Byelection in Masset Saturday

Masset residents will be voting Saturday (Oct. 27) to choose a new council member to fill the seat of the late Janet Brown. Two candidates are running for the position: Arbor Osborne and Andrew Merilees. You are eligible to vote if you have lived in Masset for at least the past 30 days, have lived in BC for at least the previous six months, are a Canadian citizen and are at least 18 years old. The registered owners of property in Masset are also eligible to vote with a certificate, available from the chief or deputy chief elections officer. Chief election officer Trevor Jarvis reminds voters that they will need to show two pieces of identification, at least one with a signature, before they can mark their ballot. Voting takes place at the Howard Phillips community hall from 8 am until 8 pm. Results will be available on this website as soon as we get them Saturday night.
