Celebrate Parks Day in Sandspit!

Submitted by Michelle Butler-Saturday, July 17 is Canada's Parks Day. In Sandspit, it is also Loggers Sports Day. Different perspectives, but with a common cause: this year's parade theme is "Logging in the Future: Finding a Balance".
The parade begins at 10 am at the Super Valu parking lot, and ends up at the community hall, where Gwaii Haanas will be sharing a booth with the Sandspit Visitor Information Centre. There will be plenty of activities to enjoy; the VIC is providing a balloon dart-throw, face-painting, candy floss and the dunk tank. The main events begin at noon.
At 12:30 Gwaii Haanas will be holding a forest and beach treasure hunt, with lots of opportunity to learn new things, show off your knowledge, win small prizes and a chance to enter in a draw for bigger treasures. Please come and participate; there are fun things for everyone in the family to enjoy!
