Coast Guard station’s official opening Sept. 28

The Sandspit Coast Guard Station will officially open during a ceremony Tuesday, September 28 at 1:30 pm.
Canadian Coast Guard Commissioner John Adams and Coast Guard Regional Director Terry Tebb will attend the opening and dedication of the station’s new rescue vessel CCGC Cape Mudge. Haida singers and dancers will participate in.
Invited guests will attend the ceremony and afterwards a reception across the street at the Sandspit Harbour Inn.
The station has been operational since May of this year. Two rotating crews of four-a captain, an engineer and two rescue specialists-are available 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies at sea.
