Community health workers accept new agreement

More than 13,000 community health workers represented by nine unions including HEU have voter 78-percent to accept a new agreement. The two year contract includes improved employment security provisions in exchange for a wage roll back of 4.06-percent.
"This was a very difficult set of negotiations," George Heyman, BCGEU president said, as he made public Friday morning the vote results. He also said he was very proud of the bargaining committee that was able to protect jobs, maintain benefits and keep wages at a livable level.
The unions involved include the BCGEU, UFCW, HEU-CUPE, and more.
