Crash claims one life

A 42-year-old Masset resident died in a single vehicle crash on Friday night (June 23).
Two people were in the car, a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, heading northbound when the crash occurred 30.5 kilometres south of Masset. The driver, who was wearing her seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital in Masset.
Monica Crist, the passenger, was not wearing a seatbelt. She was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene from her injuries.
The vehicle flipped three or four times during the crash. Masset RCMP received the report at 9:31 pm and responded along with emergency services.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors. Masset RCMP, North Pacific Traffic Services and the coroner continue to investigate.
