Disband panel: MP

NDP MP Svend Robinson is calling on the federal government to disband its offshore oil and gas panel, saying two of the three panelists are perceived as 'totally biased'. Mr. Robinson says chair Roland Priddle is on the baord of directors of Talisman Energy, a major oil and gas producer, while another panelist, Don Scott, the former mayor of Prince Rupert was an active spokesman for oil and gas when he was in politics.
"If the government is determined to proceed with this review, it must be a process that is seen to be fair and unbiased, not this totally discredited process," the MP said. He added that any process should include aboriginal and environmental groups.
Mr. Robinson also tabled a motion in the House of Commons calling on the Liberals to maintain the oil and gas moratorium in BC waters.
