There will be fewer students in classrooms around BC this September than last, according to the Ministry of Education.
Across the province, enrollment is expected to fall by about 7,000 students. Here on Haida Gwaii, the loss is estimated at 36 students, although firmer numbers will be available at the end of the month.
Our neighbouring school district of Prince Rupert is expected to lose 46 students, and the Coast Mountains school district, which includes Terrace, is looking at a loss of 200 students.
