Fisherman found dead

The RCMP patrol vessel Inkster responded to a call from Langara Island Friday (Aug. 31) after a 75-year-old man was found dead at the West Coast Fishing Club. Sgt. Jim Vardy of the Masset detachment said one investigator and the coroner went to Langara on the vessel, and returned the same day with the body. The man died of natural causes, Sgt. Vardy said. A resident of Montreal, he was on a fishing trip with his son and grandson. "It looks like he passed away in his sleep," Sgt. Vardy said. The Masset RCMP's regular boat was in Sandspit for maintenance, he said, but the Inkster happened to be in town and helped out.
