Fuel spilled in Naden Harbour

Five hundred litres of diesel fuel overflowed while a tank was being filled at Queen Charlotte Lodge in Naden Harbour on May 17.
Fred Beech with Environment Canada said the majority of the fuel was contained, but the report says 50 litres entered a small creek and made its way to the shoreline.
John Seto, operations manager for the lodge, said a maintenence person was filling the day tank for the furnaces when the overflow occurred. The rest of the fuel stayed on the ground behind the tank and was contained with the help of a spill kit kept on the property.
Mr. Beech said Queen Charlotte conservation officer James Hilgemann went to the site and confirmed the report.
