The regional district has received two tenders from businesses interested in taking over operation of the islands garbage system.Administrator John Holland said he opened the two tender packages on Nov. 28, just after the 4 pm deadline.One tender was submitted by Port Clements company O'Brien Road and Bridge, the other by a partnership of Port-based Abfam Enterprises and Big Red Enterprises of Tlell.Mr. Holland said he couldn't give any details about the tenders as he has not yet had time to read them fully. Once he reviews them, he will be preparing a report for the regional district directors.The next regional district meeting will be held Dec. 19 in Prince Rupert, at which point all directors will be sworn in following last month's municipal elections.
