Hospital Day announces two more contests

Submitted by Beng Favreau-Our hospital is 100 years old this year. That's one centennial birthday worth celebrating! Literacy Haida Gwaii is extending an invitation to all students: share your thoughts and ideas about our hospital choosing one of these topics as your theme: "What does my hospital mean to me?" or "What does Hospital Day mean to me?" Here's your chance to get creative and get writing! This writing contest is open to all students of Haida Gwaii. The contest is divided into three categories - Kindergarten to Grade 3 (25 - 100 words); Grade 4 to Grade 7 (100 to 150 words); and Grade 8 to Grade 12 (minimum 150 words).Another contest that Literacy Haida Gwaii is running is open to all residents on our islands: "A Picture Worth a Thousand Words". What makes a picture worth a thousand words? Well, you decide. Use your imagination to capture the moment on film. Photos need to be either black and white or color. Your photo must be 10" x 8". This can be digitally printed or scanned, photocopied, and enlarged. The closing date for both contests is Thursday, June 12. Please submit your entries with your name, phone number, grade and school (for the writing contest) to Literacy Haida Gwaii, Box 235 Queen Charlotte, V0T 1S0. Prizes will be awarded to winners on Hospital Day. If you need more information about both contests, please contact Beng Favreau at 559-8398.
