No ferry bought yet, despite rumours

There's no truth to the rumour that BC Ferries has concluded the deal to buy the "Sonia" as a replacement ferry for the Queen of the North.
That's the word from spokesperson Deborah Marshall, who told us Friday afternoon that BC Ferries is still negotiating, and has nothing to announce at the moment.
The "Sonia" is owned by broker Maersk and was built in 2004. It travels at 21 knots, has room for 178 cars and over 1,000 passengers, and is outfitted with 79 cabins.
