Cedar and Bananas are back on dry land, after a harrowing couple of days abandoned at sea.Cedar (a dog) and Bananas (a cat) were left behind on the Magnolia sailboat when Tom Hampton of Queen Charlotte and Doug Monroe, an off-islander, were rescued by a military helicopter in high seas Monday night.Mr. Hampton said leaving the dog was horrendous, like losing a child, but he had to be left when an attempt to lift him didn't work out.After drifting for days on the 17-metre sailboat, which lost its sails, motor and rudder to Monday's winds, the vessel was towed into Port Hardy on Thursday, a happy ending for the two animals.
