Province to share revenue with Haida

Details are not available yet, but a revenue sharing agreement has been reached between the Council of the Haida Nation and the Province, the Observer has learned.Ministry of Forests spokesperson Vivian Thomas said the province is planning a formal announcement and would have more to say at that time.According to Guujaaw, president of the CHN, the dollar figure (which he would not discuss) is an interim measure related to the TFL 39 case and is not intended to represent the value of resources, nor is it meant to buy the province the right to infringe upon Haida Gwaii's resources."Rather it's intended to be good-will towards eventual reconciliation," he said.
