In the continued fight for the return of airmail service to the islands, Queen Charlotte village council will send a letter to the new Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities John Baird. Mr. Baird was named to the ministry responsible for Canada Post during the Oct. 30 cabinet shuffle. At the Nov. 3 council meeting, Mayor Carol Kulesha said a previous letter was sent to the federal government, but was only copied to the former Minister of Transport. “We need to send the new (minister) a direct letter to correct that,” she said. She also reported that Northern Savings Credit Union has told her they are having problems with the decreased service, along with Queen Charlotte dentist Dean Nomura.
