Regional District meets Friday

The Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District had been scheduled to meet Friday in Queen Charlotte, but changed its plan after learning it would cost much more than expected to bring the mainland directors and staff to the islands. The monthly meeting will be held June 19 in Prince Rupert instead, said administrator John Holland.Mr. Holland said there were only a couple of seats left on the Friday floatplane flight from Rupert to Masset, which meant the regional district would have had to spend an extra thousand dollars to charter a plane. The regional district will definitely hold its July meeting on the islands, he said.On the agenda for Friday's meeting: a delegation from the Port Edward Historical Society (it runs the North Pacific Cannery) and the 2008 audited financial statements.
