Regional district to meet Friday

The Skeena-Queen Charlotte regional district will be holding its July meeting on the islands. The public is welcome to attend the meeting, which starts at 4 pm Friday (July 25) in the village of Masset office. The regional district is responsible for running the islands garbage system and the QCI Recreation Commission, and administers the unincorporated areas of the islands. Five directors represent the islands, two come from Prince Rupert, and one each from Port Edward, Dodge Cove and Oona River on the mainland.Administrator John Holland said there is no special reason for holding the meeting in Masset rather than the usual location of Prince Rupert, except that Area D director Ian Hetman had wanted it there. The Friday afternoon meeting will be followed by a barbecue hosted by Mr. Hetman, for regional district directors and invited guests only.
