School board gets extra money

Victoria is kicking in an extra $35 per student because of declining enrolments throughout the province, a move that was heralded as "good news" at the school board meeting in Port Clements last week.
The extra funding ads up to about $30,000 here on the islands, and school board spokesman Ernie Inglehart said it will have a "positive impact" here.
The school district currently operates with a budget of about $9-million per year.
