Up, up and not away

Fares on the ferry are going up again Tuesday (April 1), and it's no April Fool's joke.Prices for vehicles and passengers go up just under two percent on the Rupert and Kwuna routes, although over height charges will be eliminated.A return ride on the Kwuna will cost $9.90 for a foot passenger as of Tuesday (up from $9.45), while a vehicle will cost $23.00, (now $22.15).On the Skidegate-Rupert route, foot passengers will pay 60 cents more and vehicles will be charged $2 more, $133.25.BC Ferries says the increases are in accordance with the BC Ferry Commissioner's order and are directly associated with increased operating costs, "notably fuel, capital replacement and labour".
