Skidegate trustee Wayne Wilson will chair the school board for another year, after winning a secret ballot election at last week’s board meeting (Dec. 16). Mr. Wilson, who has chaired the board for the past three years, was nominated by trustee Sharon Matthews. Trustee Elizabeth Condrotte then nominated Christine Martynuik. A secret ballot vote was taken from among the five trustees, and Mr. Wilson pronounced the winner. Ms Matthews then nominated Ms Martynuik as vice-chair. No other nominations came forward and Ms Martynuik was acclaimed to that position. Mr. Wilson’s first order of business was to honour past school trustees Lisa Gyorgy and Ina Biron, who did not seek re-election last month but served their communities as trustees for the past three years. The two were presented with plaques and thank yous.
