First-time surfers had a swell time Saturday morning at the 10th annual Expression Sessions hosted by the North Beach Surf Shop.
The wave gods smiled on the surf festival’s 10th edition, with perfect rollers for starting surfers in the morning, and some fine waves for the older set by afternoon. A whole squad of Grade 1 to 3 students came up from the Living and Learning School to try it out, and for one lucky 15-month-old, the sunny, surf-y day was her first ever dip in the ocean.
Held at Hiellen / Hl’yaalan ‘Llngee, the all-day event featured free wetsuit and board rentals from the Surf Shop, plus snacks and hot chocolate from the Expression Sessions Concession run by volunteers with Mount Moresby Adventure Camp.
