Firefighters and paramedics in Port Clements got a welcome surprise the night of Nov. 7 — a call with cupcakes.
Tina Ooishi, a postal worker with Canada Post, asked to speak at Port Clements volunteer firefighters’ regular hall practice together with all the local paramedics.
Ooishi said she was given a rare chance to thank the first responders for all they do to keep the village safe.
Canada Post recently unveiled a set of five stamps to honour emergency responders: paramedics, firefighters, military, SAR experts, and police.
As a lasting thank-you, Ooishi presented the firefighters and paramedics with framed posters of their stamps to hang in their stations.
One shows two paramedics giving life-saving treatment with an air ambulance in the background. The other shows firefighters battling flames.
While the posters may be displayed for many years, the same cannot be said for Ooishi’s other thank-you. The tray of cupcakes by Alex Rinfret triggered a response time too quick for the Observer to count.
