Investigation underway after pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Hwy 16 near Vanderhoof

The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking public assistance

RCMP are investigating a hit-and-run incident on Hwy 16 that resulted in the death of a man on Sept. 20.

A man died after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 16 near Jardine Road, east of Vanderhoof, on September 20.

Vanderhoof RCMP and BC Highway Patrol responded to a collision on the highway on Friday at approximately 9:28 p.m., the police said in a Sept. 23 statement.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Tragically, the adult male was pronounced dead at the location.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking public assistance. Anyone who was in the area of Highway 16 and Jardine Road between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. and has dash cam footage, witnessed the incident, or has any information is urged to contact the BC Highway Patrol at (250) 649-4004.
