Sandspit is getting a boost in ferry sailings.
Starting Thursday, June 1, the Kwuna ferry will take passengers going south to Alliford Bay at 10:55 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. On the same days, the ferry will sail north to Skidegate Landing at 11:20 a.m. and 2:25 p.m.
The new sailings will help Sandspit and Graham Island commuters, as well as Air Canada passengers who arrive on morning flights from Vancouver.
Members of the North & Central Coast Ferry Advisory Committee requested the new sailings last November.
Darin Guenette, a BC Ferries spokesperson, said the changes are year-round, and will be reviewed two years from now.
“We all want this pilot to be successful and convert to a permanent part of the schedule,” he said in an email.
