10 hour power outage Sunday

  • Sep. 12, 2011 6:00 p.m.

The power goes out in Queen Charlotte, Skidegate and Tlell for 10 hours this Sunday. BC Hydro is doing testing on the underwater cables that send power between Moresby and Graham Islands on September 18. Crews will start work at 8 am and if all goes well they will finish by 6 pm. Spokesperson Dave Mosure says the interruption could shortened or lengthened depending on how the work proceeds. BC Hydro suggests turning off all lights and electrical equipment during the outage and waiting an hour after the power is restored to turn multiple appliances on, to allow the system to stabilize.
