Aboriginal policing officers visit Masset

The Masset RCMP detachment hosted two guests this week from aboriginal policing services at E Division headquarters in Vancouver.Sgt. Grant MacDonald said Cpl. Dee Stewart and Const. Chester Williams spent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Masset and Old Massett.On Monday, they visited the adult drop-in in Old Massett and Const. Williams did a presentation on frauds, scams, personal safety and elder abuse for about 30 people, which was well-received, Sgt. MacDonald said.He was also scheduled to make a presentation to the Healthy Communities Society at Chief Matthews school Tuesday evening.Cpl. Stewart, who is in charge of recruiting, made several presentations at G.M. Dawson and Tahayghen schools and also administered two exams to Old Massett residents who are interested in joining the RCMP.
