Accident sends woman to hospital

A woman visiting from the lower mainland was taken to hospital Wednesday (Aug. 6) after a two-car collision near the Haida Gwaii Museum in Skidegate.
The accident occurred around 2:30 pm, said Sgt. Eric Stubbs of the Queen Charlotte RCMP. Both vehicles were heading towards Queen Charlotte when one car, driven by a local resident, attempted to pass the car driven by the off-island woman. The cars collided when the woman turned left into the museum driveway.
The woman's two children were not injured, and neither was the other driver and his passenger, Sgt. Stubbs said. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. Police are still investigating the accident, which was witnessed by several people, he said, and charges are pending.
