Aquarium funded for QC visitor centre

The Queen Charlotte Visitor Centre is getting a saltwater aquarium and an interpretive garden with indigenous plants, thanks to a $20,000 grant from the federal government. The Department of Western Economic Diversification announced last week that it had approved the grant for Queen Charlotte, along with grants for Port Edward's fishing village museum, a wilderness trail in Metlakatla and boat launch improvements in Bella Coola.According to Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, the grants will improve tourism and help create jobs. The funding comes from the west coast community adjustment program, designed to help communities affected by challenges in the salmon industry.
