Area D byelection upcoming

Voters in rural Graham Island will be going to the polls sometime in the new year to choose a new regional district representative, following the resignation of Area D director Ian Lordon.
Administrator Janet Beil said she has not yet set the date for the by-election.
Meanwhile, bad weather prevented three out of five regional district directors from the islands from attending Friday's meeting in Prince Rupert (Oct. 24). Ms Beil said Mr. Lordon, Sandspit director Duane Gould, and Port Clements alternate Jukka Efraimsson didn't make it, while Carol Kulesha of Queen Charlotte and Masset mayor Barry Pages did manage to attend.
Directors gave first reading to a bylaw which will rezone a Tlell property to allow it to be subdivided into two pieces. Ms Beil said a public hearing will be held on the rezoning once a new director is elected. The Beitush Road property is owned by Phil Parish and Roger Hamilton.
