Prince Rupert crown counsel has downgraded the charge facing an Old Massett woman following a stabbing incident April 8, says Masset RCMP Sgt. Blake Ward. The woman was initially charged with attempted murder but that has been downgraded to a charge of aggravated assault. Crown counsel also dismissed all charges against a man stemming from the same incident. The woman appeared in Prince Rupert provincial court April 16 and was released on several conditions, including that she is not allowed in Masset or Old Massett except to attend court or on court-ordered visits. Her next court appearance is set for May 10, and a trial date has yet to be set.
