Submitted by the Sandspit Recreation Commission--Sandspit Rec. Commission president Mr. B. Cochrane had nothing but praise for his cadre of volunteers who successfully hosted fourteen different events for Sandspit from May, 2009 to May, 2010. Some highlights included the opening of a new Tot Lot on the ALM School grounds, completion of the Sandspit Fitness Center, open gym night for children, hosting 3 fun runs, mini-Olympic fun events at ALM, and two fundraising dances!This coming year the Volunteer Recreation Commission plans to sponsor a program in which community members adopt a small piece of sunny Sandpit and try to make it as beautiful as possible. Funds and materials are available upon request. Another activity planned is a community celebration July 24. Watch for details. The Volunteer Recreation meets the last Monday of every month at the MIMC office. We'd love to have new members who are enthusiastic about improving the recreational quality of life in Sandspit.
