BC Senior Games coming

Submitted by Fran Fowler--Seems like we just finished our own unique Island Senior Games and now we have to get organized for the BC Seniors Games. They are really big and need lots of early planning! Our own 2010 games featured several sports that are in the BC Seniors Games. So if you did well or enjoyed archery, table tennis, whist, darts, carpet bowling, or cribbage think about going to Comox in September. The location this year is shared between Comox Valley and Campbell River from September 15-19. You have to get registered soon. Please call Fran at 559-4691 for more information and check out www.2010bcseniorsgames.ca for more details. There are a great range of sports and if you're interested in a doubles or team event, often they will match you up with a local player so that you can go to participate. Try out some of these: archery, badminton, 5 pin bowling, carpet bowling, lawn bowling, golf (two levels), disc golf, horseshoes, ice hockey, soccer, snooker, square dancing, swimming, table tennis, whist, dragon boating, bocce, cycling, darts, tennis, one act plays, pickle ball, slo pitch, athletics, bridge, cribbage, curling, floor curling, something for almost everyone! The Islands are lucky as we can partner with the mainland and get assisted travel and accommodation rates. Another advantage we have is that we are called an isolation group and we do not have to play off to get on the team.Competition is usually in age categories and often in separated into recreational and competition groups. They try hard to have something for everyone. Most important, it's good for you and it's fun!
