Beach rock art competition this Sunday

Submitted by Susan Wright and Linda Berston-Remember to keep this Sunday Aug. 17 open for the 3rd annual beach rock art competition. This free fun filled "must-do" event is not to be missed. It goes ahead rain or shine, starting at 10 am and ending with the public judging at 2 pm sharp. Results are tallied on site and 6 lucky people or teams go home with great prizes. There are 3 adult prizes and 3 children's (4 and under) prizes.
You can enter as an individual or team but mixed adult and children's teams must enter in the adult category.
The prizes are gift certificates that have been generously donated by local businesses. Adult 1st prize - Funk it $75, 2nd prize - Myles from Nowhere $50, 3rd prize - Bottle and Jug pottery $25.00. Children: 1st Prize Crystal Cabin Gallery $50, 2nd Prize Sitka Studio $25.00.
In the past two years, both the competitors and spectators have enjoyed the creativity and spectacular results of working the beautiful natural beach rocks. We've seen amazing creations such as killer whales, octopuses, all kinds of animals, miniature villages and much more. Let your imagination fly and make a creation from the beautiful beach rocks!
The rules are simple-use only beach rocks found on site. No wood, feathers, seaweed, shells sand or anything else are allowed.
We hope to see lots of competitors and spectators. Remember the public does the judging so the spectators are a very important part of the competition.
SoÂ…..pack a picnic, bring your sunscreen or umbrella, and come out to the 3rd Annual Beach Rock Art Competition this Sunday Aug. 17, at Misty Meadows beach.
