Bear hunt regulations changed

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations has made some changes to black bear hunting regulations on the islands.As of April 14, the annual black bear season on Haida Gwaii will be closed after four black bears have been harvested by licenced hunters.Also, the bag limit for black bears has been decreased from two bears per licence year to one bear per licence year. Any bear harvested here is now required to be inspected at a compulsory inspection centre or at the ministry office in Queen Charlotte.More on this in The Observer May 5.Copyright Haida Gwaii Observer 2011
