A Sandspit home was destroyed by fire on Friday. No one was home at the time of the blaze, according to acting fire chief Brad Tanner. Eight members of the volunteer fire department fought for four hours at the site of the blaze, near the Coast Guard station. “Eventually we got the fire out, but the house was destroyed,” he said. Mr. Tanner said one person got smoke inhalation and burns trying to get items out of the home. He said the cause of the fire may have been electrical, as there was no woodstove in the home.
