BC has a new Minister of Education, and the islands school board has already invited him to visit Haida Gwaii to see how local schools are putting innovative ideas about education into practice.School trustees voted Oct. 26 to invite George Abbott to the islands, just one day after BC Premier Gordon Campbell named him the province's new education minister.Mr. Abbott, the longtime Liberal MLA for Shuswap, was previously the Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation, and has also served as Minister of Health and Minister of Community Services.Copyright Haida Gwaii Observer 2010.
