Light rain showers fell on much of Haida Gwaii Friday (Aug. 6) but conditions remain warm and extremely dry, says Forest Service enforcement and compliance technician Dan Skafte.Mr. Skafte said small campfires are still allowed here (they must be less than half a metre across) but any other burning has been banned since late July and remains prohibited. A campfire ban could be imposed if the dry weather continues, he said.He cautions everyone to be extremely careful if they do decide to light a campfire, by keeping it as small as possible, and making sure it is completely extinguished before they leave.
