Cellphone coverage back to normal

Repairs have now been completed to the wireless antenna at the Mount Poole site damaged in Thursday's storm, according to Telus Representative Liz Sauve. The service was not completely down, but was intermittent to Skidegate, Sandspit and Queen Charlotte over the weekend."One of our antennas was damaged, that's why the service was intermittent," said Ms Sauve, adding that Telus replaced the antenna and completed quite a bit of weather-proofing. She also said that likely will mean fewer problems in the future."The site has been restored, and the crews are actually flying home as we speak," she told the Observer Monday morning. The Mount Poole tower was installed four years ago and required a custom design because of the remoteness of the location and the challenges getting to the summit.
