by Jane Wilson--The wireless antenna at the Mount Poole site near Alliford Bay was damaged in Thursday's storm, said Telus Representative Liz Sauve."Landlines are still available," she said, crews are on their way and will arrive on the islands Friday.The service is not completely down, but it will be intermittent to Skidegate, Sandspit and Queen Charlotte until the antenna can be repaired, probably before Sunday, said Ms Sauve. Masset and Old Massett were not affected because they are served by a different tower. Bell Mobility users in the south end will be affected however, as they share the same tower.The Mount Poole cellphone tower was installed in July of 2009 and required a custom design because of the remoteness of the location and the challenges of getting materials and equipment to the summit.
