Chamber, CHN to meet in two weeks

The Queen Charlotte Islands Chamber of Commerce will be meeting with the Council of the Haida Nation in a couple of weeks to talk about how the two groups can work together.

According to a letter from Chamber president Jean Traplin, Chamber members requested the meeting because they are interested in islands-wide cooperation.

"The purpose of the Chamber of Commerce is to strengthen and diversify the economic base of the Queen Charlotte Islands to create a strong economic climate in which business can grow," Ms Traplin wrote. "We feel that this can only happen with effective communication and cooperation between all parts of the islands community. To this end, we would very much like to discuss with the council what your views are on how we can develop an effective partnership and work together."

The joint meeting is scheduled for Sept. 9 at 7 pm at the Chamber's office in Port. Chamber secretary Maggie Bell Brown said both CHN president Guujaaw and vice-president Arnie Bellis are expected to attend.
