Chamber looking for new members

Chamber looking for new members
Submitted by Maggie Bell Brown

The Queen Charlotte Islands Chamber of Commerce will be having a special
meeting this Thursday, July 31, 7:30 pm at Cacilia's B&B. The primary
purpose of this meeting is to elect sufficient officers to continue as an
organization. We currently are in need of a president, vice president, two
directors for Masset, and one director for Queen Charlotte. A secondary
purpose is to consider the Chamber's future direction.
Your input is essential. If you are unable to attend, please consider at
the very least sending a message outlining your vision of what priorities
should be endorsed by the executive. If you are willing to stand for
election, a letter or email stating which position you are prepared to
undertake and what you feel Chamber priorities should be would enable those
who cannot attend the opportunity to support you. It would also enable you
to be considered for office in the event that you are unable to be there
yourself.
This meeting is open to the public, and new members are welcome. Only
members in good standing, however, may run for office or vote. There will
be an opportunity to apply for or to renew membership before the meeting
commences, so please bring any and all people that you can think of who
could provide fresh ideas and enthusiasm. A recurring wish has been for
local community chamber meetings which could then be reported to the QCI
Chamber as a whole. Increased membership would help make this a reality,
especially if strongly supported by the current membership.
I will look forward to hearing from you all, and to seeing as many of you as
possible Thursday evening.
