Chamber of Commerce to work on Galapagos idea

The QCI Chamber of Commerce has decided to invest time in planning a trip study tourism practices on the Galapagos Islands, after a meeting with Queen Charlotte resident Jack Greenwood.
Mr. Greenwood met with the chamber to explain his plan to take a group of islanders to the Galapagos to study the way tourism is organized there.
Chamber members decided the idea has merit because they don't want to re-create the wheel, and they feel the set up on the Galapagos is similar to what we should look at for here, according to chamber president Mary Kellie. If the islands adopt some of the practices worked out on the Galapagos, it would save energy, she says.
The chamber decided to review Mr. Greenwood's information and put together a proposal for the Softwood Lumber Adjustment fund, but with only five days before the deadline, Ms Kellie said there wasn't enough time to create a compete application. The chamber will submit an application for money to fund the trip to Gwaii Trust.
If the chamber can find funding, the trip will be planned for November of this year.
