Chamber, tourism association interested in visitor centre

The QCI Chamber of Commerce will be working with the Haida Gwaii Tourism Association on bidding for the contract to run the visitor information centre in Queen Charlotte next year.
At its meeting in Tlell Thursday (August 14), the chamber decided to work with the tourism association to submit an expression of interest as called for by Parks Canada, before the deadline at the end of this month.
Some chamber members present noted they felt strongly that the information centre should be operated on an all-island basis. This year, the centre is being run by a group known as the 'Friends of Queen Charlotte Visitor Centre', after the tourism association, which has run it for the last few years, had problems making the application deadline.
