Coast Guard rescues sailor

Regular and auxiliary coast guard personnel assisted a man aboard a sinking sailboat Thursday Sept 4.
The Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria received a mayday at 7:00 pm from a man alone aboard a 35-foot sailboat called the Carolina. The boat was taking on water 85 miles west of Englefield Bay on Moresby Island's west coast.
RCC dispatched a Buffalo Aircraft from Comox, the Arrow Post and the Coast Guard Auxilliary from Queen Charlotte and Sandspit. The Arrow Post rescued the man and towed his boat to sheltered waters where the auxiliary took over and towed them to Queen Charlotte.
The rescue went smoothly with no injuries according to the RCC.
