Code of conduct considered

The school board is considering implementing a code of conduct for its employees, similar to the code of conduct currently in place for students. At the Sept. 23 board meeting, trustees read over a draft version of a new policy called "Standards of Employee Conduct", prepared by new superintendent Angus Wilson."It's fairly important but fairly straightforward," Mr. Wilson said. The draft policy sets out 14 expectations for school district employees, including speaking and acting towards students with respect and dignity; using language free from obscenity; dressing appropriately; and not engaging in "irresponsible public comment that would undermine confidence in the public education system".The new policy is now being distributed to stakeholders for comment.
