Coho derby competition heats up

Submitted by Sandspit Rod and Gun Club-Two down and two to go. Weekends that is. Another good weekend of coho fishing. Lots of fishers in the boats and from the shore. The 'shack' had a good turn out and even a birthday party on Sunday. Ray did his usual Sunday morning breakfast of sourdough pancakes and dispensed a good number of buffalo burgers through the weekend. Good food, lots of conversation, good fun and some big fish weighed in.The competition heats up from here. Both genders are on the board and a lot of familiar names are angling for the top spot. The juniors are also giving it a go with more names weighing in. Just a reminder that a derby ticket is needed to fish for a top 10 spot. Still lots of fish around with some big ones reported to have gotten away. It is time to get that winning combination in the water and find your place on the board!Second weekend results:Marcel Vesti 17 lbs 6 ozJudy Foster 16 lbs 15 ozRick Atkinson 16 lbs 9 ozRudy Servatius 16 lbs 9 ozBill Yovanovich 15 lbs 9 ozLes Wourms 13 lbs 14 ozBill Rieger 13 lbs 5 ozPete Berg 13 lbsClint Matson 12 lbs 11 ozBobbi Lee 12 lbs 9 ozTop Lady:Judy Foster 16 lbs 15 ozJuniors:Daniel Morgan 12 lbsBrett Servatius 11 lbs 8 oz38 fish weighed inRay is always looking for some help at the 'shack' and I'm told he doesn't shout very much. Copper Bay is a great place to hang out and at the same time help with one of Sandspit's main events. So come out, enjoy the camaraderie, good food and watch the competitors weigh in their best efforts.
