Come join the choir

Submitted by Sara Eaton--Do you like to sing? Find yourself humming as you go about your day?
The Haywire Community Choir (soon to be renamed) would like you to come and sing with them.
This is an island-grown choir that learns different kinds of choral music from pop to Mozart. And they have great fun doing it. Lots of laughter flies out the windows at rehearsals, as well as enthusiastic song. Currently the choir is learning the spiritual Deep River, All Through the Night, a traditional Welsh lullaby; Under the Sea of Little Mermaid fame; and we'll be tackling the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's Messiah, amongst other things.
Performances take place at a variety of venues including the music festival and Christmas caroling in local communities.
Gordon Horner is the choir's patient and talented conductor. Administrative tasks are undertaken by choir members. The requested commitment for singers is a weekly rehearsal from 7:30 to 9:30 pm at Skidegate United Church and performances half a dozen times a year.
