The Moresby Island Management Committee is behind a move to keep the popular Clapp Basin road in Rennell Sound open.When it met in Sandspit April 7, the committee agreed to ask the regional district to write a letter to the Ministry of Forests to continue to maintain the road.The ministry has announced the road will close at the end of the month, because it is on private property and a deal with the owner could not be worked out. The closure would cut off a recreational site and boat launch, which members of a group trying to keep the road open say is the only safe one on the west coast of Haida Gwaii.
