Community development presentations Wednesday, Thursday

If you're interested in how the islands should develop in the future, and understanding something about the next economy, the place to be isPort Clements Wednesday and Queen Charlotte Thursday.Don Manson of the Community Development Institute, affiliated with UNBC, will be speaking, and talking about how we need to develop and provide 'smart' services. He includes Port's mutli-purpose building in that category. He also will discuss the need to 'scale up', where all communities on the islands, could, for example, pool their resources for community development and end up far better off than if they worked alone."The problem is not what the economy is going to be. The issue is how are we going to be able to place ourselves as a community to take advantage of that economy," Mr. Manson said. His presentation, about 50 minutes long, takes place at 7 pm in both Port on Wednesday and Queen Charlotte on Thursday. It's in the multi-purpose building in Port and the Eric Ross Room in Charlotte.
