George M. Dawson Secondary is holding its grad ceremony on a Wednesday this year, instead of the usual Saturday.At last week's school board meeting in Queen Charlotte, superintendent Angus Wilson told trustees that the school decided to break with tradition because so many different activities are planned for Saturdays in June.This year's grad will be held on Wednesday, June 26, in the evening. The new date meets all requirements that the board has put in place around grad ceremonies, Mr. Wilson said, including that they not be scheduled in the middle of the provincial exam period.Queen Charlotte Secondary will be holding its ceremony on a Saturday afternoon, as it usually does. This year, its grad is set for June 8.
